numero korea.

i absolutely love editorial shoots in Numero Korea. Snejana Onopka looks amazing in this spread. This styling is done by Charles Varenne and Snejana is photographed by Mariano Vivanco. The styling is perfection in this shoot and I love the makeup, dark lips...in the words of Rachel Zoe I Die...

amas 2009

the american music awards aired sunday, November 22nd on abc.

this awards was either a complete hit for viewers or an overall miss, i personally was on the fence the whole time. i felt that some artists should have performed while some should not have performed.

my overall favorite performance belongs to Lady Gaga.
It was the Gaga that I love, creative and overall talented! notice that she is singing! there are no track vocals! the burning piano was perfection too. I really wish she would have performed in the Alexander McQueen spring 2010 shoes though.

the great Janet Jackson performed with the entire audience standing. Janet performed a melody of songs and you can truly tell that she has not lost her talent. Her performance was the perfect opening.

American Idol contestant, Adam Lambert made his debut performance on the AMAs. His performance is a bit much but that is why I love it. Take it there, a performance is a performance. I prefer there be theatrical and over the top moves as opposed to the artists taking center stage. My friends and I jokingly titled Adam's genre as "theatrical rock" it has a broadway/musical feel with this rock touch. I loved his performance. I loved his suit too.

these were my favorites.

now, for those that I just cannot get with.
J.Lo with Louboutins (In reference Christian Louboutin shoes, red bottoms!) Now I was watching this like "I completely forgot she has a dancers background" so the song plays (I've never heard it before) I cannot get with this song! I just cannot do it, I know it seems weird but not every artist should make a song referencing designer items. I do admire her recovery from her fall though. It took me watching this performance twice to notice it. I also feel like the gold piece is from an older collection, ugh.

Rihanna, Rihanna Rihanna. I was being truly open minded about her performing but I don't like her performance, she just cannot sing so why didn't they save her and play the track? I like the creativity of the set though. I don't like the outfit she wore, I know it was supposed to match the "madhouse" feel but no.

i know your baristas know that i always come in wanting either a venti vanilla latte with soy and an extra shot, a venti green tea latte with soy and an extra shot or a venti pike coffee.

why can't you do, "buy this many drinks and you get a free one after ?" i think i deserve some discounted drinks or a free venti pike.

you get all of my money!
...i love you,

pac div. what it is one time?

i made it clear, i support good talent. i respect the grind and i truly am rocking with Pac Div.

i really like this piece with XXL.

peeping toms.

peep toe shoes have been huge this season. I love them all but they aren't that conventional when living in New York City. Subways, rain and nonstop walking just don't agree with peep toe shoes.

There are ways to wear them though and still make them feel "warm". Stockings, tights are great ways; try adding a bright color to solid (neutral)peep toes. But do remember to pay attention to your wardrobe decisions, don't clash the color of the tights with another bright clothing piece. Fish net, or any other interesting design of stockings/tights look amazing with peep toe shoes.

*ill keep finding boots and styling options for you all.

rest in peace Daul Kim.

Model Daul Kim was found dead in Paris this morning, her agents at Next confirm. "She was a top model and a great friend to all of us at Next. Please respect her family’s privacy at this time of sadness. We will all miss her very much," they said in a statement. The cause of death remains unknown at this time, but a source tells the Cut the 20-year-old committed suicide. She will be missed.
Last year, Daul compiled a series of video diaries for us of her Fashion Week adventures. Watch them here, here, and here.

*my career is in fashion, its unfortunate to hear of Daul's death. I pray her family is remaining strong.

arguments.

arguments have become apart of social life. you have your ups downs with friends/family or even with complete strangers.

but when is it okay to just SHUT UP?!

...I personally see arguments as a debate. That thought process is due to my experience on my high school's debate teams(btw thats a while ago). I never hop into an argument without fully knowing my side of the situation. You can't attempt to persuade someone  about an issue if you, yourself, is unsure of the issue at hand.

presenting evidence or good persuasion skills are key when trying to argue.

people just don't understand that if they cannot prove a fact then there is no need for an argument in the first place.

save yourself the embarrassment and keep your mouth shut.

shoes.

i've been meaning to do a post on some of my favorite, highly creative shoes.

1. alexander mcqueen spring 2010 collection was incredible. head to toe, literally. the collection was noted as one of the most memorable shows and the shoes definitely played a factor in that statement. FYI-the black ones, and bejeweled booties were seen in Lady Gaga's Bad Romance video.

2. nina ricci, ah these platform boots are amazing. its basically heel-less, they feel so futuristic to me which i love.

3. rodarte thigh high bandage boots. i wish i could afford these, they are perfection. a lot of celebs have been see wearing them, i wonder how the process for putting them on goes. *i honestly prefer them in the black color.

**i honestly admire any woman who wears either of these shoes mainly the McQueens or the Nina Ricci boots.

videos.

i either am late, well i'm never late, but i felt that i should do one big posts on three great videos from my personal favorites

Clipse ft. Cam'Ron- Popular Demand
*I honestly wasn't feeling the fact that Cam'Ron was on this track but the song still is good and I am uber excited for the Clipse to be back.

Pac Div- Whiplash/ Young Black Male
*Church League Champs was definitely my summer mixtape. I love Pac Div for so many reasons, talent and west coast origins being the top two.  Well Pac Div did a video for Whiplash and Young Black Male. CHURCH LEAGUE CHAMPS, LETS GO!

Cool Kids- Knocked Down
*Again, another great song from the Cool Kids. Knocked Down is from Gone Fishing hosted by Don Cannon. I've been a fan of the Cool Kids since Gold and a Pager(years) and they will always have a place in my heart. Anyways, the video is real cool. Nice shots with overall simplicity.

wale. drake. kid cudi.

I recently saw this photo of three of the next heavy hitters in the Hip Hop world, *I say next because they technically are on the come up in mainstream music but their mixtapes have gained them all the popularity they need.

Anyways, I have a love hate relationship for the styling done on the shoot. The looks for Wale and Kid Cudi are right, they aren't over the top. Its a relaxed feel of fashion which I like to see on rappers. Now I don't know who or even if there was a stylist for this shoot but the idea was lost for Drake's look.
Leather with sweats, I don't mind the mix of textures but not the way it is styled in this photo.
Sweats seemed to become a popular trend (recently) but it was a popular trend for Women's style. I also felt that the leather wasn't a good move to go, especially compared to what Wale and Cudi have on.

Suggestion: Lose the leather, keep the sweats and add a jean jacket. It becomes a relaxed look without losing the "sense of fashion".

video phone.

the wait is over , Beyonce and Lady Gaga together, one song, one video; the Video Phone Remix

When I am...Sasha Fierce released, there was a sense that the song Video Phone would be followed by a video. (Well at least I felt that way) That sense became reality when an announcement declaring that Lady Gaga would join Beyonce for the remix. Both ladies are at the top of their game right now and together they were untouchable.

The video was set to release a week ago but unfortunately was pushed back until today.

My Views: I honestly enjoyed the video. The effects may be a bit much but hey you have to go big when you are working with Beyonce or shall I say Sasha Fierce and Lady Gaga. I only hoped that Lady Gaga would have had a larger part but she was featured. I am questioning whether or not Lady Gaga will release "Telephone" which features Beyonce.

Thoughts?

solange.

The level of creativity and talent that Solange Knowles has incredible. Her song, Stillness in The Move, is proof that the younger sister of Beyonce should be acknowledged as her own artist. The song is a cover of the Dirty Projectors “Stillness Is The Move” sung over an amazing mix of "Explosive" by Dr. Dre and "Bag Lady" by Erykah Badu.

If you weren't already following her music then you are truly missing out.

videos...

Rihanna and Chris Brown just so happened to release their latest videos on the same day.

I honestly am not a fan of the single, Russian Roulette but the video concept was incredible so my opinion has slightly changed. It's sometimes difficult for an artist to convey the true concept of their song. I felt that the video got the concept of the song across without confusing its audience. I'll admit to being interested in whats next from Rihanna.

Chris Brown also released his video for Crawl. The single is incredible and the videos concept also was fitting to the meaning of the song. Cassie looked incredible as the leading lady in the video. Those glasses Chris owns aren't the best but hey thats my opinion. The dance moves always kill me, they either are just right or over the top. In this case, the dance moves and change in locations threw me off.

**Artists tend to write from experience, I'm questioning whether the songs on their albums have anything to do with their relationship.

marz lovejoy.

i only felt that it was right to post up some of my favorite videos of Marz Lovejoy. But with a name like Marz Lovejoy, you can't go wrong.

She's an ill lyricist and I am waiting for some hard copies of her music but for now I'll continue with catching her videos.

Enjoy.

check the rest of her videos, subscribe http://www.youtube.com/user/nimarriake

ga-ga oh la la la

Lady GaGa recently released her video to her new single Bad Romance.

I love Lady GaGa's sound and she just made me fall completely in love for her daring looks in the video. GaGa wore a full Alexander McQueen spring 2010 look, literally head to toe. There were also several other shoes in the video that belonged to the spring 2010 collection.

No one is touching Lady GaGa's videos.

lavish life.

LA Rapper, Lavish, recently posted a link for his latest song, Bus Fare ft. B.Allan. I have nothing but love for Lavish so I immediately downloaded the track. It didn't take me long to recognize the familiar sound of the beat.

The beat is from the song Car Service --Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y from the How Fly mixtape

Well its definitely a good take on the original song only one thing threw me off and that was a line in the first verse, a bit too similar too Wiz Khalifa's line in the Car Service first verse. (Let me know if you caught it) Anyways the song is still strong and I am looking for to Lavish's new projects.

curren$y.

Its quite evident that I am a huge Curren$y fan. I've been a fan for quite some time now and you can clearly notice the progression in his lyrics. He ,to me, is an amazing lyricist and I will argue with anyone who begs to differ.

Curren$y is definitely a force to be reckoned with. He's already taking over the net with mixtapes, videos and more.
MTV dropped an article featuring the Hot Spitta too. Heres the video.

By the way, I'm amped about that project. Come on, Jay Electronia, Mos Def, and Curren$y together is just pefection. Each artist is an incredible lyricist and together they create and invincible team. [I'll be keep tabs on that]

He's seriously going to take this music scene over and I suggest you all just hop on that Jets bandwagon now before you miss it.

Diz Gibran.

I have been one of those Los Angeles natives trying to spread the LA love on the east coast. I live in NY where I constantly get hit with "All you guys have is gang bangers and jerkers" Such a stereotype.

The great level of talent is there.

The talent is evident with Diz Gibrans video -"Truly Yours" feat. BJ the Chicago Kid
Whoever did the video did a great job, the shots of the city are amazing.

get with the LA talent.

sweet dreams.

Beyonce has always been a personal favorite. In my eyes, she can do no wrong. She not only an amazing vocalist but Beyonce is also a powerful performer.

The MTV, Europe Music Awards were today in Berlin. Many fans caught the live stream courtesy of MTV. Of course there was a buzz surrounding B in hopes of an outstanding performance. Beyonce delivered a great performance to her latest single off of the Sasha Fierce section of I Am, Sweet Dreams.

I personally love everything in the performance. As stylist Rachel Zoe would say I die!
